Graduating? What now?

It’s graduation season across the country.  It’s a season of great promise.

As one from an “older” generation, I recall when I graduated from college.
It was a time of great unknowns—
“launching out into the deep” of human experience,
jumping into the “real world,”
exploring
and then
settling in to a job, into relationships,
finding a purpose….

We can say to these dear graduating ones, an unknown adventure awaits….
Keep your eyes and ears open.  Be alert to the good all around you. There is great promise.  You have potential, and it’s not human potential, it’s spiritual potential.
A potential and promise of living not just for yourself.  To be a blessing and to be blessed.

I could have not designed how my life has unfolded.   Did I make all the “right” decisions?  Nope!  But even when I made mistakes, divine Love, another name for God, was there, loving me, guiding me, guarding me – even when I did something stupid! One of the best things I’ve learned over the years is that God is a trust-worthy God.  Always there. Always loving.

We can all rely on God’s constant love and guidance, its always there -- we just need to listen for it!  We can lean more on God in all aspects of our lives. We can learn that God’s divine purpose is impelling us to BE more – to lift off self-imposed limitations and accepted false beliefs. To be bigger than we thought possible – to be a blessing to those around us.

That great promise, I find is not just in that graduation “time of life” but ALL times of our lives.  Each one of us, no matter where we seem to be in the human experience, no matter how many times the earth has traveled around the sun, have great promise.  God never loses interest in us.  God never “puts us out to pasture.”  God never sees us as a “lost cause.”  God is never “done” with us.

As we consciously listen for God’s guiding we can live out that great promise eternally.  God’s great promise. To be a blessing and to be blessed.
